What We Offer

ASL & Deaf Awareness Training

This workshop isn’t just about learning signs. Officers practice real-world communication strategies through roleplay, activities, and scenarios. Training covers Deaf culture, ADA law, de-escalation, interpreter use, myths and misconceptions, and practical tools like quick cards, gestures, and visual aids. Officers leave with confidence, resources, and skills they can apply immediately in the field.

Guided by Lived Experience

We are Children of Deaf Adults (CODAs) with backgrounds in law enforcement, ASL instruction, and interpreting. We bring lived experience, cultural understanding, and a teaching style that keeps officers engaged and connected.

Training That Meets Washington State WAC Requirements

Our 8-hour Deaf Awareness Workshop is approved under WAC 139-11 (Law Enforcement Training and Community Safety Act – LETCSA) and WAC 139-05-300 (Annual In-Service Training Requirement).

Scenario-Based Skill Building

We offer single or multi-session workshops that go beyond lecture. Officers take part in group activities and law enforcement–specific scenarios. Training focuses on communication, de-escalation, and decision-making in safe, interactive settings so skills stick, and confidence grows.

Continued Support After Training

Agencies consistently call this training “invaluable” for its coverage of ADA Title II, ASL basics, and de-escalation strategies. Officers leave engaged, more confident, and better prepared to serve their community.

Proven Impact & Positive Feedback

Departments that host a closed, in-service workshop receive ongoing access to resources that reinforce learning beyond the classroom. We provide follow-up materials, interpreter contacts, ADA policy guidance, and direct access to our team for questions.

"Hello! Just wanted to reach out to let you know I just put this training to use! I just had a traffic stop with a completely deaf gentleman. He was initially upset about being pulled over but after using the signs I learned in your training his entire attitude changed. It was a very positive experience. I am very appreciative of the training you provided and I think its awesome what you guys are doing! Thank you!"

"Wrapping up a full day of Deaf Awareness Workshop training alongside staff from patrol, corrections, co-responders, and officers from other agencies. As someone with zero ASL experience, this class was an excellent introductory into the world of sign language, providing insight into deaf culture, commonly utilized signs for police encounters, and overall awareness about challenges deaf people face and how we can increase the likelihood of positive encounters. 10/10, one of the best trainings I’ve ever been through. Thank you Monique and Melissa!"

"I attended this training in August and found it valuable. The course was informative covering communication methods, basic ASL signs and phrases, effective communication strategies, ADA regulations, investigations and traffic stop considerations, and de-escalation tactics. The training was not only informative but also engaging and interactive."
