Deaf Awareness Workshop – Olympia Police Department Closed In-Service Training | Presented by CODA Connect, LLC Olympia PD is hosting an internal, department-wide Deaf Awareness Workshop in partnership with CODA Connect, LLC. This interactive 8-hour training is customized for Olympia’s officers and department staff. What It Covers: • Deaf culture & history • American Sign Language (ASL) basics • Communication tools for the field • De-escalation strategies • ADA compliance & policy overview • Scenario-based practice • …and more Why It’s Valuable: • Qualifies for 8 hours of LETCSA in-service credit • Taught by CODAs (Children of Deaf Adults) with law enforcement and ASL education backgrounds • Equips officers with the tools to safely and effectively serve Deaf and hard-of-hearing community members

Cancellation Policy
Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy: 1. Rescheduling: Notify us 72 hours prior to your class for a reschedule. If none fits your schedule, your payment can roll over to a future session. 2. Class Size: Classes require a minimum of 15 registrants. If this isn't met, we may cancel the class. In such cases, payments can be transferred to a future class or refunded upon request. 3. Cancellation by CODA Connect: If we have to cancel a class due to unforeseen circumstances, your payment will be applied to another scheduled session or refunded upon request. 4. Refunds: Unfortunately, we don't offer refunds for cancellations. However, you can apply your payment to a future class. We appreciate your cooperation with our policies.
